Tuesday within the Octave of Easter

Acts 2: 36-41       John 20: 11-18

Theme: What shall we do?

In the 1st reading from the Acts of the Apostles, as they went about preaching to people about Jesus Christ, the people were greatly touched by their words and wanted to know what they need to do. They were told to repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. The power of the resurrection has taken over the disciples of Christ, and as they preach the resurrected Christ, they continued to win souls for the kingdom of God. In the same way, it is also expected that having gone through the process with Christ like his Apostles, we should be able to also win souls for Christ. This is because the power of the resurrection is at work in the lives of all of us as children of God, it is left for us to take that bold step like the Apostles did, since after the resurrection of Christ.

Never doubt yourself, I want you to just have faith and invite God into your life to come and take control. If you are positively disposed you can be a worthy instrument in the hand of God, he will empower you for the task ahead. Just know that you are not going with your own power, it is rather the spirit of God that will lead you as you witness for Christ. This was exactly what happened to the followers of Christ after the resurrection and all their fear that kept them away from going to calvary with Jesus disappeared. So, if you decide to take this bold step today, just know that you are not alone, the spirit of the Lord will always be with you, in everything you do to win souls for Christ. Remember that God does not force anyone to work for him, he simply calls you, and it is left for you to say yes or no. However, the word of God is speaking to all of us during this time, to contribute our quota towards promoting the kingdom of God here on earth as followers of Christ.

In the gospel reading of today, we are told about the empty tomb that Mary met when she visited, and she saw two Angels. If you ask me, I will say that the extra love she showed Jesus, was what gave her that privileged opportunity to be the person to take the message of the resurrection of Christ to the Apostles of Jesus. Ordinarily, some of us would be expecting that it will be one of the Apostles that will see Jesus first after the resurrection, but that was not the case. May the Lord grant us the grace to be always close to him, in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit, Amen. Peace be with you.
