Ephesians 4: 7-16 Luke 13: 1-9
Theme: You are a gift!
The 1st reading of today from St. Paul’s letter to the Ephesians, reminds us of the fact that we are all gifts. Everybody created by God is a gift. This stems from the fact that God has given all of us our own gift and it is expected that we will all bring our gifts together to build the Body of Christ; and this will give rise to a massive growth. That is why God did not give all of us the same gift, he gave us variety of gifts, and all of them put together will bring forth wonderful product, to the glory of God and the good of humanity.
However, the gifts that God has given us must be fanned into flame, so to say, if we want it to grow and yield abundant fruits. It must not be left dormant, like some of us tend to do. This brings me to a very important question, do you know the gift God has given to you, and how are you using it to the glory of God and for the good of humanity? This is a very pertinent question. This is because the action of some of some of us portrays the fact that we don’t know our gift, or we are not appreciative of the gift that God has given to us. We have to appreciative the gift that God has given us and use it to the glory of God. Whatever gift he has given you, if properly used can be a source of great joy to you and those around you. He knows us through and through, so he cannot make mistake about the gift he has given you; appreciate it and work with it.
Sometimes the challenge some of us have about our gift is that we spend too much time worrying about the gift God has given to someone else that we have to time to work with what God has given. One thing we must know is that we all have our personal gifts given to us by God and no gift coming from God will be useless if we have a positive disposition towards it. My brothers and sisters in Christ, we are all encouraged today to contribute our quota with the gift God has given to us towards the building of the Body of Christ. As you do this, may almighty God bless you, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Peace be with you.
