Wednesday of the 5th week in ordinary time
1 Kings 10: 1-10 Mark 7: 14-23
Theme: One with God
In the 1st reading of today, we are told that the queen of Sheba heard so much about Solomon and decided to come and test him to find out. Interestingly, at the end of the day she confessed that what she saw was greater than the things she heard about Solomon. This was because all the questions she brought to Solomon were all answered with great wisdom that convinced her about the wisdom of Solomon. So, she ended up giving Solomon so many gifts as a sign of appreciation. This simply points out the fact that one with God is majority. God was with Solomon and his words and actions were directed by God, after God blessed him with gifts beyond what he requested from him.
In the same way, we can also find ourselves in a similar situation like Solomon, when we give God a chance in our lives and allow him to lead while we follow him behind. When we are one with God, whatever people plan against us, will not have any effect, because God will always be by our side to protect us from all such evil attacks. We have nothing to lose when we decide to build a good relationship with God and all him to direct all that we do in our daily lives. Sometimes things may become difficult, but it does not mean that God has deserted us, because he will always be by our side when the situation gets tough for us to handle it on our own.
Just trust in him, do your best and hang in there. God will always come through for us when it matters most. He will never allow the storm of life to drown us, he will come to our rescue the same way he rescued his disciples who encountered storms in the sea. He is a faithful God; a covenant keeping God and will never fail or disappoint all those who trust in him. The issue is, do you have faith that no matter the situation you find yourself in life, God will always come through for you? Faith and trust in God are very important in our journey of faith. It will always give us reasons to continue to move, without thinking about giving up at any point in time in our lives. This is very important, because quitters never win and winners never quit, the choice is yours to make. May the Lord bless his words in our hearts in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit, Amen. Peace be with you.
