Tuesday of the 24th week in ordinary time

1 Cor. 12: 12-14.27-31a      Luke 7: 11-17

Theme: United in Christ

In the 1st reading of today from St. Paul’s 1st letter to the Corinthians, he reminds us of who we are and what is expected of us as children of God. We are many as children of God, with different gifts, but we are all one body in Christ. We are all united in Christ. None is more important than the other or less important than the other. It is expected that we bring all our gifts together and use it to the glory of God. This is how we build up the body of Christ. Our collective effort is what is needed to make a difference in our lives and in the body of Christ. Today’s 1st reading is saying something to all of us as children of God. We all have something to bring to the table, and whatever is brought by each one of us should be appreciated by every one of us. Let us make honest and sincere effort to ensure that the admonition of St. Paul in today’s 1st reading is practiced in our worshipping community. Remember, we all have a role to play in the promoting of the body of Christ. We need our collective effort to make this possible in our lives and worshipping community.

The gospel reading of today from St. Luke, presents to us the loving mercy and compassion of Jesus Christ. Jesus said to the widow of Nain, do not weep, and her son was brought back to life. Jesus is repeating the same words to all those who are going through one form of sorrow or the other currently, do not weep. Trust in him and have faith in his words. He has not changed, his mercy, love and compassion for his people have not changed. He can speak to that situation in our life today and change your sorrow and pain into joy. A very important question today is, do you have faith and believe that Jesus can change the narrative of your life? God cares so much for us and came that we may have life and have it abundantly. Trust in him today and handover that your situation to him in faith.

Dearly beloved in Christ, in whatever situation we find ourselves in life, let us learn to look up to God in faith. There is nothing he cannot do, just be patient and wait for time. Pray for the grace to be patient and wait for God’s time. This is when some of us become impatient and make mistakes by making the wrong choices. May the Lord bless his words in our hearts, in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit, Amen. Peace be with you.
