Saturday of the 28th week in the ordinary time
Ephesians 1: 15-23 Luke 12: 8-12
Theme: Trust in God
In the gospel reading of today, Jesus makes it very clear that we should be proud to acknowledge him wherever we find ourselves in life. We are ambassadors for Christ, so we should confidently proclaim Christ with pride, irrespective of whoever is present and wherever we find ourselves. I am sure many of us can relate with the assertion of Jesus in today’s gospel reading, because some of us are guilty of it. Sometimes we see Catholics praying without the sign of the cross, even hiding while we pray. At other times, we don’t even want people to know that we are Catholics or Christians. One thing we must know is that we are privileged people as Catholics and Christians, so we should be proud to always proclaim our faith in God. By implication, it simply means that we must always stand for what is always right and just, because that is what is expected of us as followers of Christ.
Dear friends in Christ, a very important question we need to ask ourselves today is, are you proud of your faith in Christ Jesus? If yes, are you proclaiming it wherever you find yourself or you do it only when it is convenient for you? It is important to note that God never forsake us or deny us, even when we stray from the path that will lead us to eternal life. That is why we must be boldly proclaiming Christ and the kingdom of God wherever we find ourselves. It is never too late for us to begin, begin to do it today and God will richly bless you. Jesus made it very clear that there is a reward for all those who declare for him in the presence of men and women. If for nothing, let this be your drive to continue to make honest effort to remain on the right path.
The 1st reading of today, points out the fact that St. Paul is bearing witness to the truth, and all of us as children of God are also encouraged to always bear witness to the truth. We are lights and we must not do anything that will put out our light. Rather we will continue to live good life that will make our light to always shine brighter. As you do this, may almighty God bless you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Peace be with you.
