Monday of the 33rd week in ordinary time
Rev. 1: 1-4; 2: 1-5a Luke 18: 35-43
Theme: The healing power of God
Today in the gospel reading from St. Luke, we see the readiness of Jesus to restore the sight of the blind man. His question to the blind man was, what do you want me to do for you? His answer was, Lord let me receive my sight; and Jesus restored his sight immediately. This is the God we serve and worship. He is ever ready to come to our assistance whenever we reach out to him. Whatever you may be going through now, have you also taken it to God in faith, like the blind man did? Remember, the blind man did not allow those rebuking him to stop him from getting the attention of Jesus, and this paid off for him. In the same way my brothers and sisters in Christ, never allow any person or situation to stop you from reaching out to God about the situation you are presently going through in your life.
We serve a loving and merciful God, who is ever willing and ready to answer our prayers and change the narrative of our life. You just must persevere in prayer and continue to pray and reach out to God; he will surely answer your prayer at his own time. My brothers and sisters in Christ, we serve a compassionate God, and his desire for us is that everything works well unto good. That is why it is important that we always get closer to God and trust in him.
Dearly beloved in Christ, just like the blind man, we are all suffering from different situations that we cannot handle on our own. It could be health issue; it could be bad habits and so many other things. The good news today is the fact that we serve a God that can change the narrative of our life; all we need is to trust in him and reach out to him like the blind man in today’s gospel. We can begin by accepting the invitation in today’s 1st reading, to retrace our steps and return to God; it is a call to repentance. This is very important, as the liturgical year is gradually coming to an end.
One thing you must always remember is the fact that there is no situation we find ourselves in life that is beyond the God we serve. Trust in him and go to him in faith. As you do this may almighty God bless you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Peace be with you.
