Wednesday of the first week of Advent

Isaiah 25:6-10a       Mathew 15: 29-37

Theme: Blessed Assurance

In the 1st reading of today from the prophet Isaiah, we are presented with a message of hope, a blessed assurance that is coming from God himself to all of us who are his people. It is a message that should strengthen our resolve to make the right choices and partake of the salvation experience that the prophet Isaiah is presenting to us today from God. It is an experience that we all would like to share when the time finally comes. But it is such that we also must make effort to be counted among the number. This message is free and open to all of us, it is not hidden from anyone one of us, it is left for us to decide whether we want to partake of this wonderful situation or feast that the prophet Isaiah is presenting to us today. The Lord has made it all inclusive, no one is exempted, except the person who chooses to count out himself or herself by making the wrong choices that is not in line with the ways of God. This is an opportunity for us to be mindful of the choices we make in our daily lives, because it will determine whether we will partake of this feast or not.

Dearly beloved in Christ, the season of Advent presents us the opportunity to mend our ways and embrace the ways of God, as we prepare for both the second coming of Christ and his coming at Christmas. Let this period of preparation bring renewal and transformation into your life, that will prepare you for the coming of Christ and make you a partaker of the heavenly banquet. However, it is important to point out the fact that this option is not an easy one, but it is worth all the stress and discomfort that is associated with it. Always let your source of strength be Jesus and all the holy women and men who also embraced this part that leads to eternal life. This is very important, because there will be moments when the journey becomes very tedious and difficult because of the difficulties and challenges associated with the choice you have made for Christ. When that time comes, just pray, have faith in God and continue to do your best, God will never fail or disappoint you, he will always come true for all those who have faith and trust in him and have done their best, humanly speaking.

Dear friends in Christ, in the gospel reading of today from St. Mathew, we see how Jesus come through for the people, he healed sick and fed the hungry. He cares for all those who always have faith and trust in him. Trust God, he will always come through for you too, no matter the difficulty you find yourself in life. Remember, we are talking about the God that has power over life and death, he has not changed, and he will never change. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. May the Lord bless his words in our hearts, in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy Spirit, Amen. Peace be with you.
