Wednesday of the 12th week in the ordinary time

Theme: By their fruits

In the gospel reading of today, Jesus admonishes us to be careful about false prophets, who are wolves in sheep clothing. This concern of Jesus is even more important in our own time when a lot of things are happening in the name of the church. This type of action from the prophets is informed by their greed and quest for money. A lot of psychological manipulations are practiced for their selfish gains and they exploit the vulnerability of the people. My brothers and sisters in Christ, Jesus gives us a guide today that will help us to protect ourselves from falling prey to such people; by their fruits you shall know them.

This is very important and will go a long way in saving you from the hands of such people. From your findings, what type of fruits are they bearing? Good seeds will bear good fruits and bad seeds will bear bad fruits. You have to make a choice and choose the type of fruits you want to bear at the end; no one will do it for you.

Dearly beloved in Christ, this admonition of Jesus touches all of us in one way or the other. This is because, by virtue of our baptism we are all priests, prophets and kings; so each one has to undergo personal assessment to find out how one is fairing. It is never too late to retrace our steps and make the right decision in our life; if we truly want to begin to bear good fruits. The time to make this leap of faith is now, why are you procrastinating?

There is no time, let us begin to live our lives like true children of God that we are called to be. It begins with each one of us, if we truly want to enthrone Gods kingdom in our life, family, school, business and in the world at large. With this type of mind-set, we can make a positive difference in the world in which we live and lead more people to Christ as we also make our way to Christ. As you resolve to bear good fruits today, may almighty God bless you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Peace be with you.
