Memorial of our Lady of the Rosary

Theme: Power in the rosary

Today the church celebrates the memorial of our Lady of the rosary, one of the powerful names with which our mother Mary is described. It is a celebration that gives us the opportunity to talk about our mother Mary and the power of the rosary in our life as children of God. Many people in the past and presently have testified about the power of the rosary. Many of the saints have said a lot about the power in the holy rosary. It is a known fact that with the gift of the rosary in an apparition to St. Dominic by our Lady, he was able to be victorious in battle. St. Josemaria Escriva says, “The holy rosary is a powerful weapon. Use it with confidence and you will be amazed at the results”. Saint Padre Pio said, “The rosary is the weapon for these times”. St. Francis de Sales said, “The greatest method of praying is to pray the rosary”. St. Alphonsus Liguori said, “Among all the devotions approved by the church none has been favoured by so many miracles as the devotion of the most holy rosary”. St. Louis Marie de Montfort said, “If you say the rosary faithfully until death, I assure you that in spite of the gravity of your sins, you shall receive a never-fading crown of glory”. Added to all these are so many other testimonies from men and women of faith and they have reasons to testify to the power in the most holy rosary. Dearly beloved in Christ, these testimonies should strengthen our faith in our mother Mary and the rosary.

My brothers and sisters in Christ, as we celebrate our lady of the rosary today, it is an opportunity for us to create awareness about the efficatious nature of the rosary. October is the month of the rosary, what are you doing about it, as an individual and as a family? It is an invitation to increase devotion to the rosary. As you pray the rosary, encourage your friends and family to also join you in the devotion. The more you do it, the more your attract the blessings that emanate from the devotion to it. When it comes to the issue of God and retracing our steps, it is never too late. Do not allow todays invitation to pass you by, resolve today to be part of the devotees of the rosary and you will be richly blessed for such a bold step.

My brothers and sisters in Christ, as we promote the devotion to the most holy rosary, may almighty God bless us in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Peace be with you.
