Saturday of the 6th week of Easter year A

Theme: Collaborative ministry

The issue of collaborative ministry is very important in our propagating the faith. Everyone has a special role to play, and it is not limited to only the clerics or nuns, but to all Christians. The importance of collaboration in the ministry started with Jesus Christ, that is why he had both Apostles and disciples who joined him in the propagating of the good news of the kingdom. This is what we also see in the 1st reading of today from the Acts of the Apostles. The more the people that are involved in the preaching of the gospel of Christ, the more the good news has been taken to the ends of the earth.

Dear friends in Christ, remember that the desire of Jesus is that his followers spread the word of God to the ends of the earth. So, for us to be able to realize this mandate given to us by Jesus before he departed to his heavenly father, we all must be involved, because we have a role to play to make the request of Jesus possible. Right from the time of Jesus, there has been emphasis on collaboration in the ministry. One person or a few people cannot really do much, but the more the people that are involved, the easier it will be to spread the word of God to different parts of the world.

My brothers and sisters in Christ, in view of this mandate given to us by Christ himself, what are you doing towards making it possible in our world today? We all have a role to play towards propagating the good news of Christ. It should not be left to an individual or a group of people, it is a job that we all must do collectively as children of God. Some of us think we do not have what it takes to preach Christ, I want you to know that you are wrong; we all can preach Christ if we truly decide to do it. This is because our daily life can be a way of witnessing for Christ and winning souls for the kingdom of God.

Sometimes our preaching does not have to be done verbally, there are some people by the side who are watching you and admire the way you live your life and serve God. So, even without your knowledge you are already winning souls for the kingdom of God. That is why we need to be mindful of the kind of life we  lead, your life may just be the only book that someone will have the opportunity to read, let it produce a positive in that life. Let us all resolve today to contribute in our own little way towards promoting the kingdom of God here on earth. As you strive to make this happen in your life, may almighty God bless you in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit. Amen. Peace be with you.
