Saturday in the 12th week in the ordinary time of the year A

Theme: With God all things are possible

In todays 1st reading from the Book of Genesis, we see that God is not yet done with Abraham and Sarah in their old age. If we are alive, it simply means that God is not done with us. The generosity of Abraham to the three strangers in todays 1st reading, attracted the blessings of God to them. The visitors promised them that by the next spring Sarah will have her own child in her old age.

The issue of Abraham having a child with his wife Sarah has been worrying him greatly, and in their old age God decided to grant him his heart desires, at a time when all hope was lost humanly speaking; that was why Sarah laughed when the visitors made the promise to Abraham. This simply shows that when God is ready to answer your prayers, nothing can stop it, because he breaks all the barriers that would ordinarily stop it from happening. In the case of Abraham and Sarah, science says it is not possible any more because of their age, but God said it is possible by making it happen.

My brothers and sisters in Christ, we are privileged to be serving a God that does not have impossibility in his dictionary. When the appointed time comes for him to do anything, he breaks all the barriers and protocols to make it happen. He is still doing this miracle in our own time, that is why you must present that difficult situation in your life to him today, he has the power to make it happen, because he has the final say about every situation in our life. As you continue to do your best about whatever the situation is, continue to pray and trust in God. He can also break all the barriers and protocols because of the present situation in your life, he has the final say in your life.

Dear friends in Christ, let us also emulate the generosity of Abraham our father in faith to these strangers that was used to bless him. God works in mysterious ways and can come to us in a way we least expect. Let us try to see him in the faces of our suffering brothers and sisters, the less privileged and the most abandoned. In the lives of all those who have lost their voices in one way or the other in our society, you can be their voice. All these and more may be discomforting to us, but these are some of the places where we can meet God. May almighty God bless you in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit. Amen. Peace be with you.
