Monday of the 3rd week in the ordinary time Year 2 (Memorial of St. Francis De Sales, Bishop and Doctor of the church)

Theme: One with God

Today the church celebrates the memorial of St. Francis De Sales, Bishop and Doctor of the church. The theme of reflection resounds in the lives of the three men, that of David in the 1st reading, Jesus in the Gospel reading and St. Francis whose memorial we celebrate today. He was appointed the Bishop of Geneva, a centre of Calvinism and he was able to excel in the administering of his Diocese and was also able to build a good relationship with the Protestants within his Diocese. His relationship with God has a role to play in his success.

In the 1st reading also, we also see the people choosing David as their King, taking into consideration his heroic deed against Goliath and how he was able to handle Saul. Remember, God has already approved him before now to rule his people. It can only be God. In the gospel reading, we see the antics of the people, just to discredit Jesus. But he was able to beat them to their game because he was one with God. He also used the opportunity to educate the people, lest they make a grave mistake.

Dearly beloved in Christ, one with Christ is sure of victory. That situation you are going through at the moment may be beyond you, but it can never be beyond God; hand it over to him and watch him do his thing. May the good Lord bless his words in our hearts. Peace be with you.
