Tuesday in the 4th week of the ordinary time year 2
Theme: God of possibilities
Today’s liturgy points out the fact that we serve a God that is capable of making impossibilities to become possible. This comes out very clearly in the two miracles that Jesus performed in the gospel reading. In the healing of the woman with the issue of blood and bringing back to life the daughter of Jairus. Humanly speaking, these are hopeless situations, but with Jesus, everything is possible; just as we see in both miracles.
One thing that is very obvious in both miracles in the gospel, is the faith of all those involved. They had a strong belief that God is capable of changing their situation. The woman with the issue of blood did not allow the shouting of the people around to stop her from getting to Jesus. She was persistent, and she knew what she wanted. Her persistence and faith did not disappoint her, because her heart desire was achieved, and brought about her healing. Also the faith of Jairus was strong, even when he got the message that his daughter was dead. He listened to Jesus and believed in him. Just like in the first miracle, his faith did not fail him; Jesus raised his daughter back to life.
Dearly beloved in Christ, Jesus is still the same today, yesterday and forever. What is that situation you are going through at the moment, take it to Jesus in faith and allow him to change the narrative of your life, just like he did in the two miracles we have in today’s gospel. Do not be discouraged, just trust in him, he never disappoints all those who trust in him; he is a faithful God, tested and trusted. He is patiently waiting for you to come and make your request, and he will show you that he is God. May God grant us the grace to be steadfast in difficult moments. Peace be with you.
