Tuesday of the 6th week of Easter year A

Theme: There is power in prayer

In the 1st reading of today from the Acts of the Apostles, we see the ordeal of Paul and Silas because they were preaching the word of God to the Philippians. The magistrates tore their garment, and they were beaten with rods. The God we serve, makes use of every given opportunity to win souls for the kingdom of God and glorify his name. Ordinarily it may be difficult for the jailer to listen to the preaching of Paul and Silas, but what he saw and experienced when he woke up, convinced him that he was dealing with great men. He did not expect to find all the prisoners still inside the prison, when all the doors were wide open, and they would have all escaped without any difficulty.

The prayer and songs of Paul and Silas at night completely changed the entire situation. God honored their songs and prayers, and the doors of the prison was thrown wide open. This was the beginning of the conversion of the jailer and his household, and he was baptized, nobody forced him to be baptized, he did it willingly. This simply shows us that prayer and songs of praise are very powerful, no matter the situation we find ourselves in life, God is always willing to come to our assistance when we call on him in faith. Through prayer we can connect with God in a very special way, and he responds to our requests at such a time.

My sisters and brothers in Christ, even those who are evil know that when you are connected to God in prayer and strive for holiness of life, you are well protected and guided by God. However, I want you to know that God is always there for all his children, but your chances are increased when you make effort to live an honest life like a child of God. We must make effort to pray in and out of season. We can begin gradually and gradually the time we spend with the Lord in prayer and our concentration will continue to grow. The most important thing is that we make effort to always relate to God in prayer. Like some people will always say, it is not easy to pray, but if we make honest effort, the grace of God will continue to strengthen us. Always be strengthened by the fact that with your honest effort and prayer, God can change any situation you find yourself in life.

Dear friends in Christ, the power of prayer in our lives cannot be over-emphasized. There are so many testimonies about what prayer have done in the lives of believers, both in the scriptures and in our lives. We are all encouraged today to make effort and spend some time praying. You don’t have to wait until you are in one form of problem or the other before you prayer. When things are going well for you, continue to pray and when the time comes and you cannot pray like you use to, they will become very useful to you. Our prayers is never a waste. May they good Lord grant us the grace to be people of prayer, in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit. Amen. Peace be with you.
