Friday of the 2nd week in the ordinary time Year 2 (Memorial of St. Agnes, Virgin and Martyr)

Theme: Trust in God

Today the church celebrates the memorial of St. Agnes, virgin and martyr. She was convinced about her faith in God and was willing to lay down her life because of her faith and trust in God; she remained resolute not to defile herself from the tender age of twelve until her death. Her age and faith says a lot to all of us as Christians in our own time. It is a challenge that should be taken serious by you and I. May God continue to strengthen our resolve to serve him better.

The action of David today is also saying a lot to all of us as Christians. David did not wrong Saul in any way, but because of his fears and insecurity he is after David’s life. David had the opportunity today to kill Saul, but he did not do it, because the battle is of the Lord. Allow God to fight your battles for you, just like David did and it will always end in glory. If you are going through such a situation at the moment, just hand everything to God, just like David did and continue to live your life; at the appointed time God will show you that he is God.

By virtue of our baptism, God has called us in a special way as he called the twelve Apostles in the gospel. Let us do all within our power to trust God in every situation of our lives and be good. May God bless his words in our heart. Peace be with you.
