Wednesday of the 4th week in Lent
Theme: God re-assures his people
In today’s 1st reading from the prophet Isaiah, we see how ungrateful humans can be; taking into consideration everything that God has done for the Israelites. The prophet Isaiah in today’s 1st reading admonishes the people about their misconception of God. He ended up pointing out the fact that even if a mother forgets her suckling child, God will never for us. These are wonderful words of re-assurance coming from God to his people. My brothers and sisters in Christ, have there been moments in our life when we felt that God has deserted us and no longer listens to our prayers? Today we are re-assured in a very special way that he will never forsake us, not minding our unfaithfulness. What we need at such moments in our life, is to trust in God, be prayerful and continue to do our best. At his appointed time, he will show us that he is still a faithful God. With God, we need faith and patience, no matter how bad the situation becomes.
My brothers and sisters in Christ, the season of Lent is an opportunity for us to listen attentively to the word of God and strive to put them into practice in our daily life. We serve a God that is full of love and compassion for his people and will never desert us, no matter the situation we find ourselves in life. Also, we must guide against the actions of the Jews who were determined to destroy Jesus in any way possible. They discredit even his good works and are looking for the opportunity to kill him. They were not humble enough to accept the truth thrown at them by Jesus and as a result wanted to do away with him.
My brothers and sisters in Christ, have there been moments in your life when you are confronted with the truth about your life and you begin to attack the person; instead of reflecting on the message he brought to you? We have to try not to repeat the mistake of the Jews and be objective about the truth presented to you in different ways about your person.
