Friday of the 5th week of Lent

Theme: The mighty man in battle

Jesus is our mighty man in battle, who bring victory to all those who trust in him. In the 1st reading from the prophet Jeremiah, he presents to us the challenges he was facing, as a result of his call to discipleship. The people cannot stand the truth that he is presenting to them, and as a result of that, they are planning the downfall of the prophet. Interestingly, the prophet is aware of their plans and he takes everything to God in faith. In the same way my brothers and sisters in Christ, we have to prayerfully present the challenges we encounter in life to God who is the mighty man in battle.

The experiences of the prophet Jeremiah points out the fact that there are bound to be difficulties and challenges in our life as children of God.We have to handle such situations with faith and trust in God. With God on our side we are sure of victory. Let us try to always commit our cause to the Lord, he will never disappoint us; no matter the situation we find ourselves.

In the gospel reading of today, the plot to arrest Jesus continues to increase; but he escaped because the hour has not yet come. They are accusing him of blaspheming, not minding his words and works that he has done. The people refused to accept his works because they are blinded by envy and hatred for him. Dearly beloved in Christ, the season of Lent presents us the opportunity to work on our human weaknesses and gladly embrace the teachings of Christ in our daily life. May almighty God bless you, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Peace be with you.
